External Links
Links let you add quick access to external resources directly within a space. Whether it's a carrier tracking portal, supplier website, or internal documentation, your team can reach important resources without leaving the Keel Console.
Adding a link
To add a link to a space:
- Open the space and click Edit to enter edit mode
- In the Useful links sidebar, click Add a link
- Fill in the link details:
- Title — The display name for the link
- Description (optional) — Brief context about what this link is for
- URL — The full URL including
https://
- Click Save
The link appears immediately in the sidebar. Keel automatically fetches the favicon from the URL, giving each link a visual identifier.
Link configuration
Each link has three fields:
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Yes | Display text shown in the sidebar |
| Description | No | Additional context shown below the title |
| URL | Yes | The full URL to the external resource |

Use cases for external links
Links work best for resources your team accesses frequently alongside their tools. Here are some common patterns:
Documentation and guides
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Training materials
- Process documentation
- Company wikis
External systems
- ERP or legacy system portals
- CRM interfaces
- Accounting software
- HR systems
Supplier and partner resources
- Supplier portals for placing orders
- Vendor catalogs and pricing
- Partner documentation
Tracking and monitoring
- Carrier tracking portals
- Shipment monitoring dashboards
- Delivery status pages
Example: Shipping carrier links
A fulfillment team space might include links to the carrier portals they use daily:
| Title | Description | URL |
|---|---|---|
| FedEx Tracking | Track outbound shipments | https://www.fedex.com/tracking |
| UPS Portal | Manage UPS account and shipments | https://www.ups.com/ship |
| DHL Express | International shipping tracking | https://www.dhl.com/tracking |
With these links in place, the team can quickly check shipment status or manage carrier accounts without hunting for bookmarks or remembering URLs.
Setting up carrier links
- Create or open your fulfillment space
- Enter edit mode
- Add each carrier as a separate link:
- Title: The carrier name (e.g., "FedEx Tracking")
- Description: What the team uses it for (e.g., "Track outbound shipments")
- URL: The direct URL to the tracking or management page
- Click Save for each link
The favicons are fetched automatically, making it easy to identify each carrier at a glance.
Best practices
Keep links relevant
Only add links that the team using this space actually needs. A warehouse space should have carrier portals, not finance dashboards. Each space should feel focused on its specific workflow.
Use descriptive titles
Write titles that tell your team what they'll find:
| Instead of | Write |
|---|---|
| FedEx | FedEx Tracking |
| Docs | Receiving SOP |
| Portal | Supplier Order Portal |
Add context with descriptions
Descriptions help team members understand when to use each link:
- "Track outbound customer shipments"
- "Updated May 2024 — includes new packing procedures"
- "Login required — use your company credentials"
Organize by workflow
If you have many links, consider how your team uses them. Put the most frequently accessed links first, or group related links together by adding them in sequence.
